Well… apparently 2026 decided to see just how much one person can handle.
Jill’s medical journey actually started back in 2015, and after years of dealing with doctors, tests, and more pain than anyone should have to endure, things took a pretty serious turn this year. The most hopeful part of all of this is that we finally believe we have found the cause, and we’re
hopeful that these next two surgeries will finally put an end to the “anesthesia naps” for awhile.
August brought two weeks of room service at the hospital and surgery number four. Unfortunately, Jill isn’t quite done yet. When this is all said and done, she will have had six abdominal surgeries, with two more still ahead of her, followed by plenty of recovery time.
Through all of this, Jill has amazed me with her positive attitude and strength. We believe this is the final test in a journey that has gone on far too long, and that when she gets through these last two surgeries, she can finally turn the page and begin the next chapter of her life.
The not-so-good news? Apparently positive thinking and compliments does not pay bills - she tried.
Jill works in the restaurant business, which means no work = no paycheck. With everything still ahead of her, she probably won’t be able to return to work for the rest of the year. Meanwhile, the bills have unfortunately decided they are not interested in giving her a medical leave of absence.
Her family and friends have been absolutely amazing throughout all of this, and we’ve set up this GoFundMe to give everyone who has been thinking about Jill, praying for her, or asking how they can help a way to do so.
If you’re able to donate, every little bit will help with the everyday expenses that continue while Jill is unable to work. If you can’t donate, please know that your prayers, messages, encouragement, and support mean just as much.
The goal is simple: get Jill through the next two surgeries, get her healthy, and eventually get her back to her life.
Right now, we’re just trying to get Jill across the finish line. After everything she’s been through since 2015, six surgeries should be more than enough for one lifetime. We’re ready for the next chapter to be about getting healthy, getting back to work, and most importantly, getting back to living her life.
Thank you to everyone who has been there for Jill and our family through this crazy journey. She couldn’t have gotten through this without you, and I am eternally grateful for every person who has stood beside her along the way. Your prayers, support, encouragement, and love have meant more than I could ever put into words.
