Help support Jill Jacobson's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
On the morning of November 24, 2019, Jill was found in her bathroom in just minutes away from death. She was taken to the local hospital and from there life-flighted to another hospital. Jill was taken immediately into emergency brain surgery where it was found that Jill's high blood pressure had caused a brain aneurism, which caused a massive stroke, leaving the left side of her body paralyzed. Doctors were not hopeful that she would make it and placed her on life support.
Just hours after brain surgery, Jill was able to respond by squeezing our hands and even giving a thumbs up. Within 24 hours, we were told that her brain scans looked so much better than expected and that we should get on our knees and thank our Heavenly Father because she is an absolute miracle. By 48 hours she was able to open her eyes a little bit, write words on paper, and stand up with lots (and lots and LOTS) of help from Physical Therapists. Even though she has machines and wires hooked to her, she is still showing a little bit of her silly personality.
The last 24-48 hours have been rough. Jill has been feeling lots of pain and discomfort and not getting much rest. Doctors have kept her heavily sedated to help her rest, but there has been no more progress. Currently she is breathing on her own, but the respirator is still in place for precaution. She also needs feeding tubes and catheters.
Our Jill is a fighter. We know that she will not give up.
Jill raised 3 boys as a single parent; Blake, Tyrell, and Jaymeson. She worked hard, sometimes multiple jobs at a time, to provide for them and to ensure that they were always able to play football. They are her greatest treasures.
In 2013, Jill was able to buy her very first home. She is so proud of her home and has been working hard renovating it.
In addition, Jill has also spent the last 6 years supporting and caring for her youngest son, Jaymeson and his wife, who suffered severe Carbon Monoxide poisoning causing life altering brain damage. More recently, she has been focusing her time caring for her oldest son Blake, who suffered brain trauma at work, leaving him with a fractured skull.
We are so, so grateful that we get to keep Jill longer, however she will not be able to return to work, she will not be able to live on her own, and she will have to rely on help from her "army" for the rest of her life, including her mother and step father, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, 3 sons, 3 daughters in law, 9 grandchildren, and dozens of nieces and nephews. She is also being cheered on from the other side by her father, David and her sister, Beth.
In addition to not being able to return to work, Jill also does not have health insurance. Medical bills are going to pile up for the next few weeks or months as she continues to recover in the ICU, physical therapy, and neuro therapy. We are asking for donations to help pay her current and future medical bills, as well as her regular monthly bills until we can figure out a new living situation for her.
We are so grateful for all the support we have received over the last few days. Jill is so blessed to have so many people who love her and who are praying for her.
