My mom, Jill Dryden, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) on June 5th. Since then our world has been turned upside down! She went to the ER on Monday June 4th, was diagnosed on June 5th, and got transferred to Moffitt Cancer Center on Sunday June 10th. She's had excellent care thus far and we are so lucky to have her at Moffitt! ALL doesn't have stages like other cancers, and the severity and course of treatment are tailored for each patient by genetic markers found in a bone marrow biopsy. We will get the genetic marker results, and more information about her treatment in about a week. Until then, she will be starting a general round of chemotherapy on Wednesday June 13th, and she will be receiving it daily for about a week. Once the chemo is complete, she will remain at Moffitt for an additional 2-3 weeks to be monitored, and give her immune system time to recuperate. So far, she is in really good spirits and plans to beat this!
As many of you know, medical expenses can really add up, especially for long stays like she is expected to have. Additional expenses are adding up for my dad, as well, who is traveling daily from St. Pete to Moffitt in Tampa. The trip is 45 minutes each way, which uses quite a bit of gas daily, and he's paying to feed himself, along with other miscellaneous expenses that add up quickly. He's not able to do his "handy man" work around their 55+ community which also means a loss of income. Any help you can give financially would be such a great help to them in this stressful time! Additionally, if you could send prayers our way we would be so thankful!!
I'm trying to get some money to them ASAP because the expenses are already quickly adding up. Thank you so much for reading this and sharing it with friends!
