Jill the Cat Needs Eyesight Saving Surgery
One year ago my life was dramatically changed for the better when I made the decision to adopt a stray cat from our local shelter. Her name is Jill, a now two-year-old tabby, who had been living on the streets fighting to survive. The moment I saw her sweet face I knew she was the cat for me and since that day she has become the Princess of our household. But Jill is struggling and needs your help.
Born with a genetic condition called eyelid agenesis, in which the eyelids do not form properly at birth leaving her with no upper lids, Jill is now almost completely blind. She was found as a stray eating out of garbage cans trying to survive in a world of almost total darkness. But Jill had a will to live and somehow managed to survive on her own for almost a year of her life. Thankfully she was finally saved by the most caring woman, Carin, who took the time to post the most precious videos of Jill on the internet in the hopes of finding her a loving home. As soon as I saw the videos…I knew Jill belonged with me.
Unable to close her lids properly, hair and other particles continually scratch her corneas leaving her with painfully irritated, watery eyes. Without medical intervention, the damage will soon be permanent and she will lose her eyesight completely.
Jill needs surgery on her upper eyelids to stop damaging hair from getting into her eyes and to preserve what little eyesight she has left. The initial veterinarian fees have been quoted to be over $3600 with follow-up care and medications adding to that debt.
Jill is probably the sweetest cat you could ever meet. Despite her tragic start to life, she has become the piece of my heart I didn’t even realize I was missing. To watch her continually squint trying to get the hair out of her eyes is heartbreaking as I know how painful something in your eye can be.
With your support, we can get Jill the eye-saving surgery she needs, and 100% of your generous donations will go directly to covering the veterinarian fees for surgery, anesthetic, antibiotics, and post-surgical care.
Jill is not just my cat. She is a member of my family who brings so much joy and love into our lives that I only want to give her the chance to be pain-free. The chance to retain what little eyesight she has left without the constant irritation of hair damaging her eyes.
I cannot thank you enough for your support and ask that you please share my campaign with your family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers so that together we can give Jill a new start and a brighter future!
