Hello Everyone,

My name is Nicholas Story and I am creating this Go Fund Me page for my Mother Jill Markrack Story. My mom was diagnosed in June 2021 with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML). She is currently undergoing chemotherapy and may need a Bone Marrow Transplant. My goal is to relieve some of the financial burden on our family and allow Mom to focus on her recovery.

Her story begins with an escalated heart rate and shortness of breath which lead to a trip to the local Emergency Room and subsequent transfer to UCSF. She has undergone multiple platelet and blood transfusions while starting her first round of chemotherapy with many more to come through this long process.

My mom is in an isolation room due to her chemotherapy treatment. I was told by the hospital staff that if I left, I would be unable to return to the room. Therefore, I have taken a leave of absence from work and school to stay with her and help her during this difficult process. So far, I have spent the last 20 plus days in the hospital, spending the night with her and helping her while in the hospital. I just hope I am achieving what she would want in terms of giving back and being a caregiver for her and others.

Jill Markrack Story was born and raised in Marin County where she and her husband Dennis are raising their two children Nicholas 19 and Kailyn turning 16 this week. Jill’s commitment to her community and helping others has always been strong. This includes volunteering at elementary schools, being the undisclosed team mom for sports, team taxi driver, assisting friends and family with medical treatments and care and even helping foster children. My Mom, Jill, has always raised me to be a caring person and to put others before myself. She always said that it doesn't matter the relationship, if you come and ask for help the door is always open. She has always had an open door to feed, clothe, support and provide those in need with necessities. She has always set an example for Kailyn and I to do for others as you would have others do for you.
