Jill Mallory Studio of Dance Fire

Donation protected
In 1950, the Jill Mallory Studio of Dance in Miami, Florida opened its doors to aspiring young dancers. The studio thrived for more than forty years until Hurricane Andrew completely destroyed our building in 1992. Even after such a devastating setback, the studio was rebuilt and reopened. Twenty-six years later, on October 7, 2018, an electrical fire in the adjacent business damaged the entire studio forcing the Jill Mallory Studio of Dance to rebuild once again.

The Jill Mallory Dance Family came together to clean up the one usable studio space for the young dancers that still has power (but no AC).  Jill Mallory students are eager to get back to their regular dance schedule and prepare for their recital in June 2019. The studio has a family atmosphere providing a safe environment for students to temporarily forget the challenging issues our children face while growing up.

The other room of the dance studio and lobby that cannot be used require electrical and structural issues to be corrected before it is safe to return. A new friend and neighboring business, Believe Martial Arts, has generously provided additional space for the dance classes on a temporary basis. The director of Jill Mallory is working every day to get the dance studio back up and running as soon as possible.

Despite the hard work and dedication of the Jill Mallory Dance Family, property insurance will not cover all the repairs or replace the equipment that has been lost. The Jill Mallory Studio of Dance is still working to replace or repair the following:
·         Replacement of a wall that divides studio and business;
·         Replacement of the ceiling throughout the dance studio;
·         Replacement of full-length mirrors that covered the damaged
          wall;
·         Refinish the wooden dance floors;
·         Restore the lobby and office floor, lighting and furniture;
·         Repaint the entire dance studio; and
·         Replace all acrobatic/tumbling mats

Summer camp 2018: where life long friendships begin.

The Jill Mallory Studio of Dance is a noncompetitive family orientated studio. Many of the staff members are former students who create a safe environment for students to explore their dance interests and build strong friendships that could last a lifetime. Over the past 68 years, Jill Mallory Studio of Dance has provided positive role models for both boys and girls taking classes. The goal is to repair the structure and reopen the doors so the studio can continue shaping the lives of our young dancers for decades to come.
