One of my best friends, Jill, who I met in Texas has been going through medical issues for the last couple of years. A year ago, she had a serious infection that caused a lesion in an organ causing sepsis that kept her in ICU for 5 days and in the hospital for a month. Now she is needing to have a major operation of all organs of the lower digestive track called colorectal surgery.

The financial burden is huge and will involve multiple pre-op doctor appointments, the surgery itself and possibly 4 weeks of at home recovery with no pay.
