I have been in Scouting since the 3rd grade. I started as a Webelo in Cub Scouts and after nine years in Scouting, I am now working on my Eagle Rank with Troop 353 in Eastchester, NY. The rank of Eagle Scout is the highest rank a Scout can achieve. It is estimated that only 7% of boys that begin Boy Scouts will achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. In order to earn this rank I had to progress through 6 different ranks, complete 21 merit badges, hold a leadership position within my Troop for 6 months, plan, develop, and give leadership to a service project, take part in a Scoutmaster conference and complete an Eagle Scout Board Review. I am currently working on my Eagle project which requires me to plan out a project, recruit volunteers, acquire the materials, and act as the foreman of the project.
My project will be to renovate and reconstruct part of the Veteran’s of Foreign War (VFW) lodge in Yonkers, NY. I will be renovating the main room and improving a closet space that is currently out of shape. We will be removing and installing new wallpaper, removing old and stained ceiling tiles and replacing with new ones. In the closet I will be installing new shelving, flooring, coat racks, and painting the walls. I am looking forward to working with and leading the Scouts in my Troop as my last project with them. I plan to start my project in March of 2016 and have it completed by the start of April 2016. I expect that this project will take about 3 weekends to complete.
In order to make my project a reality, I am asking for the financial support of family and friends. Not only will you be supporting me with this ambitious project but most importantly Veterans that have served our country and protected our freedom. I have estimated that the cost of my project will be about $2,500. If you are willing and able to donate to my project, I would be greatly appreciative. Your generosity of any amount, even $10, would help me complete my project and ultimately earn my Eagle Rank in Scouting.
