Hello, my name is Jhony Silva. I have been a TPS holder for the last 25 years. I was born in Honduras but I consider myself a Bay Area native, having lived here my entire life. The Bay Area is all i know. I work full-time as Nursing Assistant on a Cardiac Unit where i am appreciated and constantly told how important i am to the care of patients, I am trying to finish my prerequisites for nursing school, and I also have a 9-year-old American child who depends on me.
TPS has been a crucial protection for me. It has allowed me to pursue my dreams of trying to become a Registered Nurse by obtaining experience as a Nursing Assistant at Stanford Hospital. I work every day to provide people with quality care. From the deepest part of who I am, I want to help people.
I'm someone who's aspiring to reach my goals thanks to the sacrifice that my parents made by bringing me to this country. All I want to do is repay their sacrifices, fulfill my dreams of being an RN to help others, and take care of my child.
But now, with the Trump Administration's decision to end TPS for Honduras, I am in a critical state right now, my last day of work will be on 09/07/25 and I have no other options for work. I live with my family and I have my financial responsibilities at home which I won't be able to take care of. Losing my job will result in the loss of healthcare for myself and for my child.
I am dedicating my life to caring for others. Now I find myself in a position where I’m the one who needs help. I dont want to ask for money but I’m in a deeply vulnerable situation right now and I would be truly grateful for any support offered during this difficult time. Any donations will be used towards providing groceries, rent, and other expenses that I still have to meet even though i can no longer work.
