On July 28th, my childhood home completely went up in flames. While my family and I stood outside in our backyard, calling the police and the fire department, the fire tore apart our house. When the fire department and police arrived, more than half of our house was on fire. And by the time they put the fire out, our den, my childhood bedroom, my brother’s bedroom, and my parents’s bedroom had been completely destroyed in the fire. Thankfully, no one was hurt, and my whole family is safe, and many things that were destroyed are replaceable. But watching our home erupt into flames, the home I had grown up in for the last fifteen years and where my brother had grown up his entire life, was nothing short of devastating. It is the house my parents worked their whole lives for, and it is the house they intended to grow old in. Certain things that were destroyed in the fire, whether they were photographs, clothing, furniture, or just memories, are things that we lost and will likely never recover. I’d like to thank everyone for their compassion and kindness during this, especially everyone who personally contacted me asking if there was anything they could do. The truth is, I have no idea, no idea where we go from here, no idea what happens now. The covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent economic shutdown has hurt many families, including my own, and now my family is forced to endure again, as we lost our house and so much that was inside of it. It is with my whole heart, as well as my mom’s, my dad’s, and my younger brother’s that I ask that if you have anything to spare, anything to donate, you consider doing so to help my family rebuild what we lost.Organizer and beneficiary
