Great Ormond Street Hospital - 54mile Bike Ride Lon to Brigh
Thank you for taking the time to check out my GoFundMe page! Whether you’re just taking a look or making a donation, I’d like to start by introducing myself.
My name is Kellie, and I’m 47 years young. Some of you might know me as Kellie from Telly! ;)
Before we delve into the amazing things this charity and hospital do and why each donation is SO important, let me share a bit about myself and why I’m cycling 54 miles for Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH) London to Brighton on 15th September 2024...
For those who know me, riding a bike isn’t one of my greatest skills and to be honest, I’m not a huge fan and didn’t actually own a bike up until a few months ago lol! This is a significant change from my day-to-day life of cheffing it up, however I’ve done some crazy things in my life, including playing for Arsenal Women’s football team, serving in the British Army in Bosnia, and coming second on Hell’s Kitchen way back when.
So despite my lack of cycling experience or enthusiasm for bike riding, my thoughts are, if I can serve our country in Bosnia… represent Arsenal women and deal with some of the Worlds biggest (and scariest chefs), 54 miles on a bike is really the least I can do to raise a nice amount of money for this fantastic charity, as this extraordinary hospital has always depended on charitable support to give seriously ill children the best chance to fulfil their potential. In order for me to do this I have been training at the gym everyday to get my body fit, and also training daily on the bike now doing at least 20+miles a day and feel I am almost ready..
Information about GOSH:
Any donation will help make an impact and will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that thankfully I have never needed to
- It was the first hospital in the UK dedicated solely to the treatment of children. GOSH started life in a 17th century townhouse with just 10 beds and two physicians.
- £35 helps to to cover the cost of one night's stay in our family accommodation, so parents can stay close by while their child is in hospital.
- £48 funds everything a Play worker needs for two hours of imaginative play with a child on the ward.
- £152 funds a Play specialist to reduce anxiety for a child who is scared of needles for blood tests.
- £1,485 funds a Play worker to prepare arts and craft packs for 50 seriously ill children for one week.
