Rick Needs Help

Donation protected
About a month ago I noticed that something was off with Rick. He didn't want to eat his food, didn't want to lay by my side in his spot on the bed, and didn't have the energy to play, follow me around the apartment, or jump up on the toilet while I was brushing my teeth. I found him hiding out in the closet or behind the toilet.

I took him to my primary vet where he was diagnosed with diabetes, hepatic lipidosis, pancreatitis, dehydration, urinary blockage, and jaundice. His diabetes had managed to snowball into a multitude of problems over the course of just a few days. Basically his body was just starting to shut down. The vet told me that I had to immediately take him to a 24 emergency hospital or he was not going to make it. He had to be hospitalized for the better part of a week. Even with treatment, they were not sure that he was going to make it. Every step of the way was terrifying; every phone call from the vet causing my stomach to drop. Thankfully, he is tough and managed to pull through. Since then, he has been a strict schedule of insulin, special food, and several more trips to the vet. He seemed to be on the road to recovery- until a few days ago he began to stop eating. I took him in, and the vet thought it was just constipation- a relief, all things considered. After not eating for another 48 hours, I took him back in this morning. It turns out his pancreatitis has flared back up and his hepatic lipidosis is back, among other things, and he requires further hospitalization. This has been an uphill battle for him since the start.

So far his bills have already been over $5000, which I have mostly charged to Care Credit. I am hoping that this week's hospital stay will not be that much, but I won't know until it's over. Just to get him in and get his bloodwork, x rays, urine analysis, and 2 nights of hospitalization with fluids, medication and care was a $1700 downpayment. I will be updated over the next couple days on extra costs and where he is at with treatment. So at this moment, he has racked up a roughly $6700 bill. I do not have this kind of money, but if you know me, you know how much this cat means to me and that I would do anything for him. That's my guy. I would be heartbroken if I were not able to get him the best help possible. I understand times are rough for a lot of people, and many are not in a position to donate to somebody else's pet, but I will be forever grateful for any help I can get, and I know Rick will too. Thank you.
