Hi, I'm Jhariah! If you're unfamiliar, I'm an artist and performer from New York City. I've been doing this project for 8 years and in that time, I've had the beautiful opportunity to tour my music all over, accompanied by an incredible band, who have all become some of my dearest friends. I’ve only been able to pursue this dream with a massive amount of help from the amazing, dedicated people who’ve supported my music throughout the years. This fall I have the honor of opening Rio Romeo followed by a tour supporting Waterparks. These are artists/bands that I absolutely LOVE, with whom I'm so excited to share the stage with! Getting to travel and perform is truly such an privilege and I’m SO grateful to be living that dream! Not a day passes that I’m not overwhelmed by how special that is!

As I’m sure many of you know by now, the financial aspect of touring can be brutal! The costs continue to rise and are often taken on weeks or months before getting paid for a show. As an independent artist, I’m responsible for all of the expenses involved with going on tour, including vehicle/gear rentals, hotels, gas, and of course making sure the band/crew gets paid. This is something I’m happy to do in order to make sure everyone who makes this show possible is comfortable and has whatever they need to do their best work. That’s what it takes to create the experience we’re trying to bring to you!

So here’s how a typical tour goes for me: In the weeks leading up to a tour, I spend most of my savings on whatever expenses need to be covered in advance. I put together any money I can to get me and the crew started on the road, and then once we start playing show, we can generally sustain ourselves until the tour is over. Most times (because of the unbelievable amount of support you all show at these shows, the merch table specifically), after everyone else is paid, there’s enough money left for me to break even on the whole thing and then do it all over again next time! Just to be clear, I’d consider that to be a huge accomplishment! Many tours lose money in service of doing something we care about, so even coming home with anything is a big deal to me.

The unfortunate truth this time around is that I’m quite literally out of savings! I’ve spent everything I have getting things ready for this incredible run of shows, but there are 3 weeks left before we’re supposed to leave and I honestly still don’t know how I’m gonna pull it off. We’re nearly set to go, but there are still some costs standing in our way.

Long(er) story short: I’m attempting to raise $4500 to put toward the looming tour costs! Mainly renting a van/trailer and paying the crew as we begin this run. If you’re able to help at all, even a little bit, it would mean the world! We’ve all been working SO hard to prepare this show for you, and we just need one final push to get out there!
