As some of you may know, Ryan and I have been on a pretty intense journey the last 3 years to get some answers about a myriad of physical symptoms that I have been battling. I’ve been to several doctors, had many tests, and done a ton of research. I finally found a doctor that offers some very extensive lab testing and after years of feeling crazy and being told everything is ok when I knew it wasn’t, I have a clear diagnosis and a treatment plan for healing.
We will be treating my healing process with a root cause/functional medicine protocol as opposed to traditional medicine and I have been informed by my doctor that January and February will most likely be very difficult months for me physically as I walk out the treatment process.
After a ton of prayer, tears, and processing with some wise counselors in our life, it’s clear that I need to take a 3 month sabbatical and focus on healing. After 18+ years of full-time ministry, I’m embarrassed to say, I’ve never taken a sabbatical. Ryan will continue his AV tech contracting and I of course will continue homeschooling, but all ministry work will be on pause for at least the next 3 months. (This includes hosting people in the Missional Nomads Ministry space)
Due to this, I am unable to take on the added contracting jobs I was contributing to the household income as well as stepping away from my worship pastor position for the next 3 months without pay.
We have calculated somewhere close to a $10,000 loss over the next 3 months with me not working as well as a $3000-$5000 medical expense increase due to the treatment that is not covered by our insurance. The Lord has always been faithful to us and we are believing for all of that resource to be provided for our family so we can truly rest and heal during these next 3 months.
We also realize we can’t continue to strengthen and encourage others if we ourselves are depleted and in need of strength and healing. Our prayer and hope on the other side of this sabbatical and treatment is that we will have greater strength and vision, as well as strategy and energy, to continue to move forward in stewarding the gifts and callings on our lives and the ministry of The Missional Nomads.
Would you please pray about partnering with us during this healing time? We are humbled and deeply grateful to every heart that would come along side us in prayer and resource. Thank you for helping hold our weary arms up.
