Donation protected
Hi My Name is Romi Simmons. I am fundraising for my Good Friend Pam Martinez...who is in need of some help. Pams situation is not a great one to be in...if Pam's path has ever crossed yours please consider helping her. This is from Pam ..I thought it would be best for her to explain her story!!
Help Pam move past ovarian cancer surgery.
I jump statrted 2022 with a decision to eat clean. No more pizza, red meat or fast food. I lost almost 50lbs. Which was great because my orthopedic Dr. said I was ready for a full knee replacement, and I should be ready for intense physical therapy. Being out on disability gets lonely, and financially tough. As the end of 2022 came around, I gave in had pizza a couple times then a steak to welcome 2023. Physically I felt like I was dying. I was so bloated and the pressure made it difficult to breathe. Thankful a friend in the medical field told me to get to the ER. Soon found out I had 3 liters of abdominal fluid, which was drained and a CT scan and an ultrasound that discovered a mass around an ovary. This information leads me to today. I'm at pre op stage for ovarian cancer surgery in 6 days. How I wish that was the only concern. I came home from my oncology surgeon apt to find a notice for me to move out of my rental within 60 days. Having been on disability 5 months, I'm not financially set to make a move. I was just made aware my medical insurance through work I need to join cobra to continue coverage which is crucial to have at this point. I've been looking for rainbows in search of that pot of gold. I even went out early one morning with my best flash light to look for the infamous money tree my mom always mentioned when I was a kid. You know "Pam, do you think money just grows on trees?" Well I can sure use that tree, or take a deep breath and swallow my pride and reach out for help.
This will help Cali and I find a new place to live. And a place to lay my head down where I can fight those damn cancer cells roaming around. I'm extremely confident in the treatment plan by the gynecological oncology team at Mission Hope for cancer treatment. I feel so strongly about the "paying it forward" concept. If I'm able to meet this financial goal needed, I will not stop once I get my health back, and I'm able to help someone that may find themselves in my shoes, or slippers.
