Gimli's Hospital Bills
Donation protected
Gimli is our 8 week old male pitbull puppy. Me and my 6 year old son, RJ, picked him out of a litter when he was just two weeks old. They have become best friends.
We also have another pitbull who is a 4-5 year old female, Peppa Pig. Peppa is a rescue who we've had for the last few years. We're unsure of her past but we do know, although she does very well with people, it takes extra time for her to get used to other dogs. We've had Gimli for about a month and Peppa was doing well warming up to him. On the morning of December 28th, they were playing together with a rope. Suddenly, Peppa reacted to something, grabbed Gimli's head with her mouth, and bit down.
Gimli has been in the hospital since that morning. He has a nasal fracture causing an air bubble in his forehead, he has a fractured palette, and he has other possible fractures on the left side of his face. He was given oxygen for a night due to breathing difficulties but has since been weened off. He is in a lot of pain and cannot eat because of the pain in his mouth. He is on constant pain medications and the doctors may insert a feeding tube. He has had several x rays and is in need of a CT scan. Tomorrow morning we will be transfering him from Regional Animal Hospital (Turnersville) to The University of Pennsylvania where he can get scanned and receive the appropriate treatments. I thank the Regional doctors for all they've done, but unfortunately they do not have the means to perform a CT scan.
With all that they have done for Gimli and with all that they are going to do, these bills are definitely adding up. I do not have pet insurance for him so I am asking for your help. I am a single mom that basically lives paycheck to paycheck. It is just after the holiday and I understand money is short for many of you, but please donate what you can.
