A few months ago, after months of recurrent sinus infections and coughs, I was sent in for testing. It was found that my esophagus was displaced, so more tests were ordered. After several ultrasounds and a biopsy, it was determined that I have an extremely large goiter on my thyroid. The biopsy came back clear, which is the good news. The bad news is, instead of growing out like they typically do, mine is growing down into my body and is now within millimeters of my aorta. Due to the extensive nature of the surgery and the relative urgency of getting it done, my doctor here has referred me to a specialist in Phoenix, and the surgery will take place in a specialty hospital for neurological, brain, stroke, etc. My mom will be coming to help with the boys, but there will be expenses that I just can't cover: travel to Phoenix, hotel for the boys while I'm hospitalized, dog sitter, medical deductibles that haven't been met yet, and not working for possibly up to 2 months. Because it will most likely happen after I am done with work for the year, I will not be eligible for disability. I am hoping to start fundraising to hopefully help with some of the expenses that I anticipate having. Thank you for reading. Prayers are also always accepted!
