Get me on a bike!

Hi there! My name is Forrest. I'm 43 years old and I have terminal prostate cancer.
My prostate was removed 2 years ago. During recovery all I really thought about was getting back on my bike. Something that would be healthy for me- physically and mentally. After about 4 months recovery time, I was ready to ride, but when I got on my bike it was just painful. I've tried everything from under inflating the tires to cushy seats and nothing worked. It's that normal bumping and jarring that you get from a bike that makes every part of my pelvis beg me to stop.
I love riding, so I kept trying. Every other week or so for over a year and it's just not working out. I even tried the recumbents and they weren't helpful. I had given up on being able to ride a bike ever again.
On a hunch, I gave a fat tire bike a spin last month and to my amazement it worked! I could ride that bike! So now, of course, I've just got to find a way to get one. Being able to ride again will drastically change my life. I need something to do and there's nothing I'd rather be doing.
So here's the challenge:
A good friend offered me $700 if I could raise the rest. I found a rental that I can get at a discount, but I'm still going to need your help. I'll need about $1500 after taxes and go fund me's take and a helmet.
I know this seems a petty request, a bike, but it really would make a tangible difference in my life.
