Kelly's Face Fund
After a year of unexpected family hardship, on December 22nd, Kelly and his family were excited
for his first Crossfit workout. He pushed himself hard, but became lightheaded; after resting at the trainer's advice, he stumbled outside to get some air. He was almost to the door when he suffered a freak accident--fainting and face-planting against the garage door track of the gym.
The injuries to his face were brutal: 2/3 of his upper lip torn off, broken upper and lower jaw, several upper front teeth dislodged, crushed nose, and two forehead gashes to the bone. He was stabilized at the local ER and transferred for emergency plastic and trauma surgery that night. However, this is only the beginning of his long recovery. He remains on a pureed/liquid diet with orthodontic braces in an attempt to save his two front teeth. He faces numerous medical and dental procedures in the coming months and his work load will be very limited for the next month or two.
Kelly and his wife, Kara are extremely hard-working, self-employed individuals, for whom the interruption of even a month's paycheck at this point is financially devastating. Three months ago, Kara was involved in a serious car accident that totaled her vehicle, leaving her with injuries that forced her to miss work and undergo two months of physical therapy. She had just returned to full activity at the time of Kelly's accident. Prior to that event, Kara's father had abruptly passed away, and she had been struggling with grief and funeral expenses.
Those who know Kelly, Kara, and their daughter, Shelby, realize what a giving family they are. Countless individuals in our community and beyond have been touched by their selfless acts of service and generosity. Therefore, we are setting up this fund to try and give
back to this remarkable family in their time of great need. Money donated on this site will go toward
Kelly and Kara's mounting medical costs and day-to-day living expenses to help them through this trying
