Support for Brie & Elaina
Donation protected
I am fundraising to help support my niece Elaina and her beautiful daughter Brie who is undergoing treatment for Ewing Sarcoma.
Elaina and Brie have had quiet the rollercoaster of a year so far. Starting a little before Christmas Brie developed a lump on her left cheek just below her ear. On December 28 she went for an ultrasound in Neepawa which resulted in an emergent referral to a pediatric oncologist at the Children’s hospital in Winnipeg. By Dec 31, she was going for a CT scan with a biopsy scheduled for January 5th followed by a PET scan. She was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma (a rare cancer affecting only approximately 3 children in a million) that will need ongoing treatments every two weeks in Winnipeg for the next year or so. On January 19 a port was surgically implanted to make the treatments a little easier on Brie, which began on January 20th. The Chemotherapy schedule so far has involved multiple days of treatment at Children’s hospital in Winnipeg, followed by daily injections and medications at home. Brie is on round 6 of chemotherapy with a surgery coming up. Elaina shares custody of Brie, which means these visits to the hospital are split between the parents, and much of their time together as of recent has been spent in the hospital.

We are asking for help in relieving some of the costs that have come with this tragic news. While they have received tremendous support from local organizations such as Westman Dreams for Kids and the Ronald McDonald house, the cost of travel, loss of work hours and personal costs have affected the ability to alleviate the stress that comes with this diagnoses.
Here’s just a few photos of these ladies on their journey :
