Pakistan has drowned - Millions of lives at risk
Donation protected
Pakistan has experienced record rains, as much as 600% heavier rains than usual. The torrential rains have led to flash floods which have impacted over 30M people, and over 20M are homeless as a result. The economic damages of these floods are estimated to be north of $3B, and are expected to grow further. The damages are in the shape of crops, dead livestock and wrecked homes. Essentially people have lost everything. It could take a generation to rebuild whatever they’ve lost.
The heavier rains are owed to climate change, driven by carbon emissions. However, Pakistan contributes less than 1% to global carbon emissions. Pakistan is paying the price for the world, and the world needs to pay attention. Millions of lives are at risk due to hunger and outbreak of deadly waterborne diseases. The majority of the victims are women and children. More than a thousand lives have been lost already.
We are raising funds to support thousands of families across Sindh, South Punjab and Balochistan. The funds will be utilised to set up temporary settlements, provide food, and provide necessary medication such as Paracetamol and Loperamide.
To ensure transparency, we will set up a google drive to share receipts and capture all our on-ground relief work.
Let’s help Pakistanis survive this unprecedented catastrophe.
