Leukemia Patient's Transplant Care

Donation protected

James McAny has been battling Leukemia for the past 6 years, & finally went into remission last October. Shortly after he met his future wife, and they became inseperable. After many years of wanting to start his life up again Cancer free, his cancer came back.  He was now facing a bone marrow transplant at UCSF in San Francisco later in the year after starting chemo & radiation again.  James recently had got married to his wife Lucy in November, a beautiful day for the couple in the midst of an uncertain future for James surgery and recovery. His sister (pictured), was a Half Match for the transplant surgery, however UCSF is using newer technology and instead of doing a Bone Marrow Transplant are doing a Half Stem Cell Match.  With this transplant, his immune system will be completely erased and started over at an infants level of red and white blood cell count. He would have to do a 6 hour surgery for the transplant, stay under strict care at the hospital for 1 month, then released to a hotel very close to the hospital, (they live almost 3 hours away) staying there for 3 months under close watch and isolated from visitors other than his nurse and wife.  Any kind of outside cold or germs can get him sick with his immune system being severely low.  Pneumonia being the biggest scare. Strict diet and meal preperations will be essential and mandatory for his recovery.
James and his sister Tish had surgery right before Christmas & both surgeries went well considering. James is still currently at UCSF for the next 3 weeks.

We are asking that anything that could help with this medical hardship would be greatly appreciated! His wife is commuting between San Francisco & Penn Valley where they live,  2 times a week for work as of now. Once out of the hospital, Lucy will have to take off 3 months or more of work to take care of James. Hospice will not cover the care, making this more of a financial hardship. The little amount of work she is working isn't enough to help pay for medical copays, prescriptions, and the large amounts of healthy foods she will have to get for James meals in the next few months.

Please pray for his healthy and speedy revovery as he still has a long way to go. Thank you!
