Stand by Sara: Fighting Cancer, Sepsis & the Road to Healing

Campaign Description:

In March, the day after her father’s memorial, our amazing friend and loved one, Sara, was diagnosed with Grade 3 stage 2B invasive ductal carcinoma  that had already spread to her lymph nodes. She faced it with incredible courage and began chemotherapy right away.

After completing just 4 rounds of treatment, Sara’s journey took an unexpected and frightening turn. In late June, she developed sepsis and was hospitalized for 9 days. She was then diagnosed with endocarditis and septic pulmonary emboli—serious and life-threatening complications.

Now home, Sara is on 6 weeks of self-administered IV antibiotics, and due to the infection, her doctors have advised her to pause chemotherapy for the time being.

The physical and emotional toll of all this is immense—but so is the financial one. Sara has been unable to work since her diagnosis, and the cost of medical treatments, hospital stays, and daily living expenses has become overwhelming.
