Jesusmaria Martinez's Farewell Fund

My name is Jhovany Quiroz, writing on behalf of my father Cruz Martinez and my sisters Diane Martinez-Chavez, Michelle Martinez and Jennine Martinez. Our mother, Jesusmaria Rangel Martinez, passed away unexpectedly on May 6th at 3:19 pm after several days in the ICU. We felt in our hearts she would push through, but several complications made that impossible, and she passed away quietly as her heart stopped beating.

Our mother was a light in the world to countless people, from close friends to strangers on the street. She was loved by everyone who met her, and her smile was contagious. She was a deeply devoted woman of God, and she lived her life in a way that honored a calling to bring those in deep, dark places to the light and love of God. In addition to our immediate family, she leaves behind her 8 living brothers and sisters, devoted friends, and hundreds of spiritual children to whom she was a godmother.

We're raising funds for her funeral services at the Cabot and Sons Funeral Home, a service at St. Andrews, where she was a parishioner and supporter for decades, and where she married our father. She will be interred at Oakdale Cemetery at a date yet to be specified. (Dates and times for all of the above will be added to this page once we know them.)

We are deeply grateful for all the messages of support, love, and encouragement we’ve received. We hope you’ll join us in helping cover the financial costs so we can give my mom a simple, yet meaningful farewell. If you’re able to attend, you are more than welcome. We believe she would be truly overjoyed to know how many people loved her and wanted to be part of saying goodbye in a special way. My mother requested that no black be worn at her service—she wanted everyone to wear white as a base, with any colors you wish to add.

Mi nombre es Jhovany Quiroz y escribo en nombre de mi padre, Cruz Martínez, y de mis hermanas Diane Martínez-Chávez, Michelle Martínez y Jennine Martínez. Nuestra madre, Jesusmaría Rangel Martínez, falleció inesperadamente el 6 de mayo a las 3:19 p.m., después de varios días en cuidados intensivos. En el fondo sentíamos que saldría adelante, pero varias complicaciones lo hicieron imposible, y partió en silencio cuando su corazón dejó de latir.

Nuestra madre fue una luz en el mundo para muchísimas personas, desde amistades cercanas hasta desconocidos en la calle. Todos los que la conocieron la amaron, y su sonrisa era contagiosa. Fue una mujer profundamente entregada a Dios, y vivió su vida respondiendo a un llamado: llevar la luz y el amor de Dios a quienes se encontraban en la oscuridad.

Además de nuestra familia inmediata, deja a sus 8 hermanos y hermanas, amistades entrañables y a cientos de hijos espirituales a quienes fue madrina.

Estamos recaudando fondos para cubrir los gastos de sus servicios funerarios en Cabot and Sons Funeral Home, una misa en St. Andrew’s, parroquia a la que perteneció y apoyó durante décadas y donde se casó con nuestro padre. Será sepultada en el cementerio Oakdale en una fecha aún por confirmar. (Los horarios y fechas serán compartidos aquí en cuanto los tengamos.)

Estamos profundamente agradecidos por todos los mensajes de apoyo, amor y ánimo que hemos recibido. Esperamos que puedan unirse a nosotros para ayudar a cubrir los gastos y así darle a nuestra mamá una despedida sencilla pero con mucho significado. Si pueden acompañarnos, serán más que bienvenidos. Creemos que a ella le llenaría de alegría saber cuántas personas la amaron y desean ser parte de este adiós tan especial.

Mi mamá pidió que nadie vistiera de negro en su servicio. Quería que todos usaran ropa blanca como base, con los colores que cada quien desee añadir.
