Jesus needs your help to pay high Visa expenses
Hi, my name is Jesús Rodríguez. I am a Venezuelan musician and orchestral conductor.
I am sharing this fundraising campaign because I need help, and this is my last resort to achieve this goal, which I know seems a very high amount, but there is good reason for it. Let me tell you more about it:
Currently, I am living in Aberdeen, Scotland. I arrived almost three years ago after a tough time in Peru (which means coming here was a huge blessing). Those who know me from that time know how hard it was for me to arrive here. Currently, I am working for Big Noise Torry as a lower strings teacher and for the Inverurie Orchestra as musical director, and I love both of my jobs.
When I arrived here, I felt I could finally achieve my biggest dreams, but I struggled with loneliness, and the depression of being without my family affected me (I have a partner and child). That is why, from the very beginning, I tried hard to get them here, which was a horrible experience because of all the UK Visas and Immigration demands and high fees, despite that I managed to save the money. After a long year and a half, I managed to get my family here, and that reunion was one of the most beautiful times of my life.
Now, a little more than a year after they arrived, I'm facing another huge hurdle to remain here: the visa extension costs for me and my family.
One year ago, I was happy because I had a plan to save money and be able to pay the costs, which were £7,000—a very high amount, but I accepted that I had to pay it. This year, the Home Office unexpectedly announced an increase in all visa and health surcharge amounts; it is now over £14,000. Now, I can say it is a HUGE amount. That's why this fundraising campaign is £10,000.
As you may guess, this is a difficult amount to raise, even with a strong savings plan, within less than a year, and all those plans are now useless. During the last months, I have been trying hard to build up my credit score and get a loan, and I have improved it, but even a good score wasn't enough for a successful loan application. I have explored so many other options but they didn't work, so this is my last resort and I must get the money in Janury.
This situation leaves me with no option but to ask for your help to achieve this goal, remain in the UK, provide for my family's future, pursue my dreams, and, most importantly, give my child a safe place to grow.
If I don't pay those costs, we will be forced to leave, and honestly, there is nowhere to go. Venezuela is unsafe due to the difficult economic and political situation, and Peru is not an option because it is becoming impossible for foreigners to live there, and my family will be separated.
I'm sharing a link of the video of my reunion with my family:

Thank you for taking the time to read this story, and I hope this makes sense. Any help is appreciated.
