Hello we are Cecy, Griz & Jackie Lozano, our dad Jesus Lozano was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma in May 2023, we were told it was an inoperable brain tumor so he started with chemotherapy and radiation therapy in June 2023 for 6 sessions. After the 6 sessions were done of radiation, he continued with chemotherapy 5 days a month for 5 more months. But also has been taking infusion therapy every other week last one being January 26th.
On December 2023 we were told 50% of his tumors had shrunk, we were so excited as a family! But then we noticed he started declining more and more he lost the ability to walk, talk, or move his right side of the body in general. Since then we have been in and out of hospitals. Eventually he wasn’t able to chew any food and it was getting hard for him to swallow as well. So we decided that the best option for him would be to have a mediport so he would be able to receive his TPN nutrition at home. Which was artificial nutrition. Also since he was no longer moving around he lost his muscle and his bones were getting shorter and shorter as we were told by his physical therapist causing him pain when he moved a limb to a certain level.
On February 8, 2023 my dad showed very little response, his eyes were rolled back, he had a fever, and we just knew is he was in pain. We were scared, but his home nurse said he was fine the next day so we waited. Then on the 10th we noticed he was getting worse and called the ambulance and they transferred him to the Kaweah hospital in Visalia. He had an MRI done the next day and we were told that he had a stroke very recently, and he also had a very serious infection in the bloodstream. The doctor said the infection could have been caused by the mediport. On February 13, 2023 at a meeting with the palliative team, doctors, and family we decided that that best choice for my dad was to give him comfort care. His body had made the choice, it wasn’t responding to the antibiotics for his infection and his artificial nutrition, his body was swelling in different areas of his body. After all that he has been suffering and in so much pain for the past 9 months, this is the least we could do for him. We were told he wouldn’t make it past a week without the artificial nutrition, but weeks passed and he was still fighting to stay with us. Hospital released him to us in hospice care on the 28th of February. He passed on March 15th. He suffered a lot throughout this journey, but we’re truly grateful he didn’t suffer during his passing.
For those of you that knew him, know that he was a kind, responsible, and hard working man. He was the best dad anyone could have asked for and we thank god that we got to be his daughters. He was always there ready to help when anyone needed a hand. A beloved husband, dad, grandpa, son, brother, and friend.
It has been a long road but with all the things going on we ask for your help to donate what you can for funeral/burial expenses. Anything helps, even prayers for him and his family. Your kindness is very appreciated. Thank you.
We’ll update when we have more information about his services.
