UPADATE!! On 4/20/23 Doctors note was Jesus presented worsening mental status which led to intubation on 4/12/23.

MRI on 5/12/23 His MRI, Neuro, ICU and BMT teams were in agreement that brain injury is irrecoverable and there was no further therapeutic alternatives for Jesus.

Unfortunately 5/24/2023 Jesus was extubated leaving our hearts so sad he fought as hard as he could until the end. We want to help the family in this difficult time with funeral expenses.

Jesus is your typical 14 year old gamer and soccer player. This year he would have started his first year in high school as a freshman. That all changed May 26 2022.

On May 23rd I took Jesus to his pediatrician because he has unexplained bruising. His pediatrician sent him to get blood work done Wednesday May 25 2022. Thursday morning May 26th I received a call from his pediatrician telling me I had to take my son to the ER, his platelet count was low and needed to get worked up at the hospital. That day we met his oncologist at the ER where she gave us the devastating news, there seemed to be leukemia cells in his labs. That same day he was admitted to the hospital. On Friday May 27th he had a bone marrow biopsy done to confirm that he did in fact have leukemia. My 14 year old son was diagnosed with AML (acute myeloid leukemia) an aggressive type of blood cancer. Since his diagnosis he has had 4 bone marrow biopsies and 3 lumbar punctures and many blood and platelet transfusions.

On Saturday May 28th he started chemotherapy and was hospitalized for 32 days. He went back for his second cycle of chemotherapy in July and was hospitalized for 36 days. He is scheduled to go back to the hospital for his third cycle of chemotherapy on August 17th 2022. After his third cycle of chemotherapy he and I will have to travel to Houston for a bone marrow transplant. We expect to stay in Houston a minimum of 5 months.
