It is with a heavy heart that I am initiating a fundraiser for my dear cousin Nicole following the loss of her beloved son Jestin, after a protracted battle with addiction.
Despite his challenges, those that knew Jestin had the privilege of being around a beautiful, gentle soul. He always tried to make everyone feel comfortable in his presence, and would help anyone, even when he had nothing himself. Jestin had a brilliant mind and was quick to excel at anything that caught his interest, which generally included creative pursuits like writing, art, and music.
Jestin is missed by many friends, and a large extended family, including his sister Sarah whom he was deeply protective of. All of his loved ones feel the loss of his abundant loyalty and the love he gave easily, as well as his sense of humour and his desire to bring laughter into any room he entered. Jestin had a strong connection to nature, where many bereaved loved ones are surely now sensing his spirit.
As everyone knows, Nicole always puts others first, and even in this terrible time of unimaginable heartbreak, continues to think of the pain of others who are also facing this loss, as she continues to offer her support to those who have been impacted by Jestin's death. Nicole has shown up for everyone that has ever needed her, tirelessly and without complaint, and now she needs us.
We are all aware of the rising cost of living, and the unanticipated expenses of planning a service for a child are enormous. Therefore, I am asking for donations to assist with these expenses, and also to allow Nicole to take some time to recover from this loss away from work without taking a significant financial hit. Any donation is appreciated, as is your sharing this post widely.
Let us come together in loving memory of Jestin, and show our support for his incredible mother Nicole.
