Jessyka is one of our beloved Hair Stylists at La Dolce Belladonna Salon and my sister.
Please join us in helping Jessyka become a "Previvor" in breaking the cycle of cancer in her family. As a result of 8 immediate family members being diagnosed with breast cancer and/or carrying the mutated BRCA gene, Jessyka has made the brave decision to be pro-active and has chosen to have a Prophylactic (preventative) Bilateral (double) Mastectomy and a Prophylactic Oophorectomy (removal of the ovaries and fallopian tubes).

"¢ Join us on Sunday, June 8th , from 10-4pm for a Cut-a-Thon. Salon services (haircuts, manicures, brow waxes, make-up applications) will be available for donations. Swag bags with fun goodies, prizes and a bake sale will also be part of this fun and eventful day.

100% of proceeds will go to Jessyka directly to assist in her battle while undergoing multiple surgeries, which will each put her out of work for 8 weeks at a time. Jessyka is a self-employed, single mother, with no disability insurance.
BRCA Gene Mutations:
Jessyka carries the BRCA gene mutation. BRCA stands for BReast CAncer. Normal BRCA genes help you fight cancer when it happens in your body. Some families carry mutated or broken BRCA genes that can be passed down from one generation to the next.
Women carrying a BRCA mutation have up to an 87% lifetime chance of breast and 54% chance of ovarian cancers (vs. general population: 12% breast and < 1% ovarian). Men can also be carriers of the gene mutation, pass the gene on to their children, and be diagnosed with cancer.
