Jess came into foster care recently because his carer was homeless and couldn't take him to his new home. Jess has a severe disability in his back legs and struggles with his walking. He also has other medical needs, and will need (likely significant) veterinary care and other medical assistance in the near future.
Jess has settled into foster care, is growing more and more in trust, and enjoying lots of belly rubs!
The foster carers need help in funding his vet bills, and for helping Jess to be more comfortable i.e. getting him groomed (his fur is matted) and a cooling mat for the summer months (he overheats quickly). Jess is not the sort of dog who is insurable - he is around 9 years old and has significant pre-existing conditions - and is out of area for the nearest PDSA.
UPDATE: from his initial vet appointment, Jess has been diagnosed with arthritis and needs (anti-inflammatory) injections every four weeks to help him with mobility and pain. These cost £78 each time. To cover his first year of injections, this will cost £1014. Jess also needs some special food to help him lose weight and also needs a haircut. To cover injections, some of his food costs and some of his grooming costs, I am going to reduce the fundraiser max to £1500.
If anybody wants to give a regular donation to help Jess's carers look after him, drop me a message and I can give you the carer's bank details direct - this means there isn't a transaction fee every time you donate. Thanks so much to those who have donated so far, it's helping Jess to have a more comfortable old age, and is hugely appreciated.
