Hi, I’m Jess — and I’m about to do something I never thought I’d say out loud… I’m running a 10K.
Let’s be honest: I am NOT a runner. The last (and only) time I ran was when I did Couch to 5K about 7 years ago… and I haven’t run since. Why? Because I hate it
But somehow, I’ve decided to go straight from the couch to a full 10K — and I’m doing it for a cause that means everything to me.
I’ll be taking on the Sheffield 10K on 27th September 2026 (yes… an actual, real race ).
I’m fundraising for South Yorkshire Street Cats, a rescue that works tirelessly to help vulnerable, abandoned, and stray cats. These are cats who have been left behind, born on the streets, or simply had nowhere else to go — and they rely entirely on the care, time, and compassion of volunteers.
For the past (almost) two years, I’ve been fostering cats and helping with the day-to-day running of the rescue. I’ve seen first-hand the difference this work makes — from scared, underweight strays turning into confident, loving pets, to cats finally getting the second chance they deserve.
But rescue isn’t free. Every single cat needs food, vet care, medication, and a safe place to stay — and the costs add up quickly. That’s why I’m pushing myself way out of my comfort zone (and onto a running route!) to raise as much money as possible.
Every step I take during this 10K will be for the cats — even the slow, grumpy, out-of-breath ones!
If you can, please donate whatever you can to support South Yorkshire Street Cats. Your support will go directly towards helping us continue to rescue, care for, and rehome cats who desperately need it.
And if you can’t donate, sharing this page would mean the world to me (and to the cats ).
Thank you so much for your support — now wish me luck… I’m going to need it!
