Jess's Endometriosis Surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jess. For those of you who do not know, last year I was diagnosed with stage 3 endometriosis through surgery. I dealt with chronic pain years prior to the surgery which led to me seeking the diagnosis, but my surgeon was not skilled enough to tackle all of the endo I had. This led to even more pain after surgery and has been severly affecting my job and quality of life. I met with a specialized endometriosis surgeon last week and will be having a partial hysterectomy and excision surgery on August 17th. This decision was not made lightly and was presented as the best option to help me become pain free. The closest surgeon equipped to handle the extent of this disease on my organs is out of state. The worst of it is on my bladder, large intestine, and tissue surrounding my reproductive organs.
Endometriosis is a condition in which endometrial tissue grows outside the uterus. This condition effects 1 in 10 women and can cause chronic pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, and infertility. I am currently in pain for half of every month and in severe pain to the point where I struggle to walk and perform basic function 2-3 days every month. The diagnosis helped make me eligible for FMLA which has protected my job but still leaves me unable to accumulate sick time or vacation time because I use any hours I accumulate each month and then the rest of my time off is unpaid. This has taken a gradual toll on our finances and made it difficult for us to save. I will be out of work for 4 weeks and need to be able to cover my loss in wages as well as the cost of a surgery out of state. All funds from this fundraiser will go towards bills that need to be paid while I am recovering and the cost of surgery. Any little bit will help us significantly and I truly appreciate your consideration and support.
