Help Jess Fight Cancer

Our precious friend, daughter, & sister, Jessica Carter, is fighting a battle that no one should ever have to fight - the fight against cancer. She is fighting for her life.

Jess is only 41 years old. She is tender-hearted, exuberant, and so loving. Everyone she meets is drawn into her magic and is a forever friend. She has community literally across the country who would do anything for her, and she loves each and every one with all her heart.

On Tuesday night while traveling for work in Columbus, Ohio, Jess starting feeling increasingly worse as abdominal pain drove her to call her primary doctor. Her doctor advised her to immediately go to the ER. It was there she received the shocking and life-altering news that she had cancer throughout her body. At 2:30 in the morning in a strange city, scared and numb, she called her family and friends. From that moment, things started moving very quickly. Jess caught the 6 AM flight home to Minnesota, saw her doctor, and was checked into the hospital that night with a fever and still in pain.

Jess would stay in the hospital for 3 nights, during which she went through the torturous prep for a colonoscopy, had biopsies and scans, and was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer. It had already spread to her liver, lungs, lymph nodes, adrenal gland, and soft tissue of her leg.

Since her initial hospital stay, Jess has had many appointments with a multitude to follow. Oncologists and their team have sprung into action, scheduling a PET scan, MRI, counseling sessions, port placement, and the first round of chemo that will hopefully extend her life. The prognosis is daunting. Oncologists shared that she would have 3 months without treatment, and with continuous treatment the median is 2 - 3 years.

We have started this Go Fund Me account to ease the burden of Jess’ medical bills. Over the next days, weeks, and months ahead she will endure countless doctor appointments, chemo treatments, and hospital stays. As you can imagine, the medical costs can be astronomical.

This will enable Jess to concentrate on fighting this awful disease called cancer.
