Tarlov Cyst Surgery & Care

Donation protected
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page and read my story. Back in January I woke up one day with an ache in my lower back and severe pelvic pain. The pain started to get worse daily. I saw my primary doctor who thought it could be another reoccurrence of Endometriosis (of which I have had 2 surgeries for since 2020). I made an appointment with my OBGYN and he said it was something called Adenomyosis and that I would need a complete hysterectomy. The OBGYN said that he wanted to get an MRI before scheduling surgery to map out the surgery. By this point, I was on pain medication daily to help me function. I was barely driving, couldn’t stand straight up or lift heavy items. The MRI report came back and identified a 4cm (golf ball size) Sacral Tarlov Cyst. This is a cyst found in only 5%-9% of the population and less than 1% have cysts that become systematic – This is called Tarlov Cyst Disease. My cyst is located on my S2/S3 sacral region on my tailbone. There are only two neurosurgeons in the United States and 8 in the world who can operate on these cysts.

I will need to fly to Dallas, TX for my surgery, which will include a few days in the hospital and 7 days in a hotel before I am allowed to travel home. At this point, due to the cyst, I can no longer work or sit, I cannot stand up straight, walking is very difficult, even in short spurts. I have major bladder incontinence and my bowels have been severely affected. I am in agonizing debilitating pain 24/7. I am on pain meds around the clock that only give me about 50% relief. There is nothing they can do that will help me be pain free until surgery. Since this is such a specialized neurosurgery, the wait list for surgery is 6-7 months. I am currently awaiting a consult with the surgeon in Dallas. Once surgery takes place the healing time is 1-3 years and there is no guarantee that the cyst or new cysts won’t appear.

First, I am asking for prayers. I know our God is a God of love and healing. If this is not something I am supposed to be healed from before surgery, please pray that God shows me where I can use this to help others. Please pray for the other people battling this rare and painful disease and for their families and doctors.

Secondly, I am asking for financial help. I am not eligible for unemployment and am in the process of filing for disability, of which the average time is a year to get approved. Until then, I am asking for your help. I need to raise $20,000 to help pay for my bills, medications, plane tickets for surgery, a 7-day hotel stay for surgery, medical equipment, insurance out of pocket, surgical deposit, physical therapy after surgery, etc.

From the bottom of my heart I thank you for taking the time to read this. I pray my journey will be able to help someone else. I know God works for the good of those who love Him and He will with this. Thank you for any financial help you’re able to give and for your prayers. Always remember – God is good all the time and all the time, God is good.
