Jessie's Midwifery Schooling
Donation protected
My name is Jessie. I’m a student midwife with Mercy in Action College of Midwifery. I’ve been working in Papua New Guinea as an x-ray technologist for a non-profit organization for the last 4 years. While there, I volunteered as a doula in the labor ward of the local hospital where I saw so much death and morbidity among the mamas and babies. The conditions were deplorable and the care inadequate. Grievously, so much of the injury and death was preventable. I decided that, with more training, I could contribute to improving outcomes for women and infants in any third-world country!

Now I’m back in the States, enrolled in school and starting an internship at a birth center in the next couple of months. I've decided not to take out a student loan as my desire is to serve in missions again when I'm licensed, and I'd prefer not to delay that with debt. I’ve used all of my savings to pay for the first semester, textbooks and required equipment. I need more funding, and I feel an urgency to get my license and get back to work!
I need to make my next tuition payment of $1,550 by February 5th. The rest of the amount raised will go toward the remaining tuition payments, school materials and other expenses associated with the internship. Can you help? Would you consider investing in me? I would be so grateful!
If you'd like to read about my time as a doula in Papua New Guinea, take a look at my blog at www.thirdworlddoula.blogspot.com.
