My name is Jessie McAuley. I am an eighteen year old mountain runner and ski mountaineer from Squamish, BC.
With a successful start to my ski mountaineering racing season, placing 1st in the Vertical, Sprint and individual races at Canadian Nationals, I now have the opportunity to make my debut at the Ski Mountaineering World championships this March 9th-16th in Villars, Switzerland.
For those of you who may not have heard of Ski mountaineering racing (Ski-Mo) it is a high intensity sport that entails efficiently ski touring on light backcountry ski gear up and down through a variety of technical mountain terrain.
At the world championships I will be representing Canada as a Junior athlete. As a young athlete, a trip like this can be very challenging financially, as it is not a well recognized sport (although it is on a list of upcoming Olympic sports). All of the funds raised will go towards transportation, food and accommodation. I am excited to take my racing to the next level, continue to pursue my goals and do the best I possibly can. Please support my cause.
