Jessica’s Road to Kicking Cancer’s Ass

Hi, my name is Nadia and I’m setting up this Go Fund Me account to help good friends of mine. Her name is Jessica Courville. She has a wonderful husband of 2 years and an amazing son who recently turned 1.

On Sunday, Sept 2nd, 2021 Jess went to the North Bay Regional Health Centre feeling lightheaded, short of breath and her appearance was very pale. They did a ton of blood work and discovered that something was off, her hemoglobin was critically low and that she has blood cancer. Phone calls were made between doctors and she was rushed to Health Sciences North by ambulance, while receiving medication and a blood transfusion at the same time.

As of Sept 9th, she has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and she has already been started on the appropriate chemotherapy protocol. Her oncologist thinks that she has a good chance at beating this, but they are still waiting on test results that will determine the risk level of the specific AML in her body. At this point we do know that she will be in the hospital for at least a month this round, then ideally she will come home for a little break/family time, and then back to the hospital for round two. If this doesn’t work, she will need a stem cell (bone marrow) transplant, but we’ll cross that bridge if we get there.

Eric is the sole income supporter and has his own small business. Now that Jess is in the hospital, he has been trying to do it all. Be the father & mother and the worker. He also has to take time away from his work to visit Jess in the hospital. I am hoping that this will ease their financial burdens that are going to come along with her fight!
