Hi, I’m Jessica’s mum. On New Year’s Day, our beautiful Jess suffered a bleed on the brain causing her to have a stroke. Prior to this, she had been fit and healthy and we had no clue this would happen. Twice, we were told that she may not wake up, luckily, she did and 56 days later, she is still in Queen’s medical centre and is making good progress. Despite this, when she is discharged, she will need intensive physiotherapy and adaptions making around our home to enable her to move around safely. Due to waiting lists, Jess will not be able to access community physiotherapy straight away. Jess may have the opportunity to go to a specialist children’s rehab centre in Surrey. This will mean us taking time off work and incurring unexpected travel costs and other costs involved with staying away from home for any length of time. All money raised will help Jess continue her recovery and allow us to support her on her journey.
