Jessica's Medical Rotation (ZAMBIA)

Donation protected
My name is Jessica Gall and I am a third year Doctorate student at Harding University College of Pharmacy.

Ever since I was 5 years old, I knew I wanted to be a doctor (maybe an Olympic swimmer or a princess too...) but when I was 9 years old,  I learned of a group of doctors that would go to Africa to donate their time and help some of the poorest and sickest people on the planet that would otherwise have no access to any form of healthcare. At that tender age of 9 another dream of my future formed, and I knew that my personal goal was to travel the world and help those in need.

As I head into the 4th year of my doctorate of pharmacy program, I have been selected to go on an international medical rotation in August to Zambia, Africa. I was chosen as one of six students to be awarded this opportunity, and I am looking for help in raising the money to help make it happen.

The opportunity to work with Westreach Medical Campaign will be during the first two weeks of August 2017, and I will help serve the Lozi tribe in the Western Province of Zambia.  We will be conducting clinics in a different village each day.  Anywhere from 100 to 500 patients will be served each day.  Medications will be given, teeth will be extracted, minor surgeries performed, and Bible lessons will be taught.

On top of working in the clinic each day, as part of my individual rotation requirement- I will be making birthing kits consisting of basic needs to help provide life saving tools and safer deliveries. The truth is, many women who are pregnant are surrounded by unsanitary conditions in remote areas, which leaves them more susceptible to infection and sadly at higher risk of death to both mother and baby. My goal is to make the kits before leaving, and pass out as many as I can, in each village, during my two weeks in Africa.

I have been blessed to find a career that I love, and with it comes the responsibility to help those near and far. I would like to ask you to find it in your heart to donate and help be a part of this experience with me. It could be $5, $10, $25 dollars, or if you're at a stage of life that you could afford a little more at this time, $50, $75 or $100. I promise any amount will make a huge difference!

If you choose to donate, I will send you a complete summary of what happened each day, descriptions of villages we worked in, personal stories of those I helped, and of course pictures so that you know that you personally made a difference in someone’s life...

I hope you will be touched to respond by giving anything you can, or whatever your budget will allow to help make this opportunity happen.  If you cannot give at this time, I would ask that you find it in your heart to pray for those we are so blessed to meet, those we will not have the chance to help, and for the safety of our trip.

                Thank you so much!
