Jessica’s dream to dance at The Royal Ballet!

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jessica and I am 10 years old. I have been dancing since the age of 4 years old when I started ballet. I absolutely fell in love with it and it has since become an enormous part of my life.

I dance throughout the week after school and often give up things such as trips and visits so I can focus on my dance. It also costs a lot for my dance lessons each week not to mention uniform and ballet shoes, which my mum pays for.

My ballet teacher has suggested I should apply for The Royal Ballet associates programme for several years now but I have been reluctant as it is so hard to get into. This year however, I decided to apply. I had to attend an hour dance audition in Covent Garden, London with other students in front of a panel of 3 people. I absolutely loved it and felt so incredibly special and at home. I had to wait several weeks for the results and incredibly I got a place for September 2025! I am so unbelievably excited!

These places are notoriously difficult to secure. Many people don’t realise that there are only two places in the UK which hold these auditions each year, London and Birmingham. This year, there were over 2000 students auditioned in London alone. There are only 10 girl and 10 boy places each year so I’m very lucky to have been offered a place.

With this exciting opportunity comes fees, uniform and travel expenses which is challenging for my mum who is on her own. She tries her best to ensure I don’t miss out on anything but I know it’s hard as I also have two other siblings.

The Royal Ballet School do offer some funding towards this but this only covers a bit of the fees so my mum will have to pay the rest. It also does not include uniform and the majority of my travel expenses from Norfolk to London regularly.

I know that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity as so few children are offered a chance to train at such a prestigious ballet school.

Mum says:
Jessica is a very talented dancer who has such incredible determination and work ethic. She dances around the house constantly and eats, sleeps and dreams dance. The application and audition has all been driven by her and her desire to dance. She expresses herself beautifully, is elegant and just wants to share this with the world around her.

Money raised through this fundraiser will go directly on Jessica’s fees, uniform and travel expenses for The Royal Ballet School. Without your help, Jessica’s dreams will be harder to achieve which seems a shame as she clearly has a talent and a very bright future with The Royal Ballet.
