Rai$ing Hope-Family's Surgical Cost

My daughter, Jessica Garza was recently diagnosed with a terrible Bilateral Articular Jaw Disorder.  She has been seen by 6 different specialists to try and correct her bite and jaw over the past 8 years.  She was referred to an Oral Surgeon for her complex case.  To date, she has paid well over $25,000.00 dollars in medical bills for her jaw alone, not to mention all the other medical bills for her Crohn's disease.  

She was informed by the Oral Surgeon that she has Stage 3 moving toward Stage 4 on her left jaw and Stage 4 moving to Stage 5 on her right jaw.  Stage 5, according to the doctor is the worse stage the jaw can get to.  

Jessica experiences extreme migraines, nausea/vomiting, numbness on the left side of her face, muffled hearing in her left ear, extreme jaw pain, ringing in both ears, unstable balance, and shooting pain down her spine.  The Oral Surgeon stated she would need a rare surgery to fix each side of her jaw before she gets worse.

The surgery will consist of cutting into both sides of her head, taking out all the nerve endings and tissue and replacing it with fat tissue from her stomach.  The bone will be inspected to assure alignment.  Then she will have 8 screws (4 each side) to keep her mouth closed for a week.  It will be 3 & 1/2 weeks before she can eat solid foods again.

The surgery is $24,000.00 dollars, not including the cost of the hospital or anesthesiologist.   Her Jaw Disorder is an extreme case of TMJ that is not covered by her health or dental insurance.  She tried to take out a loan for the full amount and was denied and burst into tears as she expressed how hopeless she felt.

As most of you are aware, my Jessica is a single parent, works full-time for the military, and is in school to further her education to better her family's life.  We have started this page to help take some of the financial burden off her, so she could get the surgery she needs to be a healthy mom to her 4 year old daughter.  She will have a very long road of recovery ahead and the last thing that we want for her is to activate her Crohn's disease, due to the stress of trying to fund her medical expenses.
