Jessica, Trent & their miracle twins

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Maria Carfagno, I am starting this GoFundme for my daughter, Jessica, her husband & their newborn twins.

As most of you might know Jessica & Trent have tried to start a family for many years now. After four miscarriages, they were blessed to get pregnant with twins! At 23 weeks Jessica went into preterm labor. She spent three weeks in the hospital before giving birth on July 24th. Baby girl, Emma, was born first at 2lbs 5oz and baby boy, Grayson, was 2lbs 12oz.

Even though both babies came into the world fighting, it has been a rough road. Grayson was born with extensive breathing issues. At two weeks, the doctors said that we are on an hour to hour basis with Grayson. They were preparing us for the worst. Grayson is now doing better, but continues to require oxygen and will have long term lung issues. Our little Emma, on the other hand, had no real medical issues. Three weeks later, Jessica noticed significant changes in Emma's behavior. After repeatedly voicing her opinion, the hospital ran a series of tests. On 8/13 Emma was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis, which has now turned into hydrocephalus. Emma has suffered severe brain damage, as a result. After reviewing her ultrasound, the neurologist determined that Emma would have little quality of life. Emma has since had three surgeries. One of which was to close a hole in her heart and the other two were brain surgeries. The doctor continues to discuss end-of-life care. Our Emma has other ideas. She continues to prove that she is a fighter.

Jessica & Trent are at the hospital everyday spending as much time with them as possible. The doctors made their position known as far as Jessica being able to work. They suggest that Grayson remain home until kindergarten and possibly longer. Grayson will not be able to combat the common cold and other germs that go along with being a toddler. As far as Emma goes, we are praying for a miracle. The doctors have told us that her life will be short. The plan is to send Emma home on comfort care, which is the equivalent of hospice care for adults.

I am asking for assistance for their little family to help relieve the stress of the financial burden. All while dealing with the hardest thing any parent could go through.
