Support Jessica Poe as she focuses on her healing

Donation protected
Hello dear friends. As we imagine most of you know by now, our daughter Jessica was in a very serious car accident on January 12. The good news and bottom line is that she is going to be fine, and she has a serious road to recovery ahead. We'll share the details below.

Jessica was in the Deer Valley Trauma Center hospital for 5 weeks, including about ten days in ICU, and then another 2 weeks in Mountain Valley Acute Rehabilitation Hospital. She is now staying with us, as she has at least 4 more weeks before she is allowed to put any weight on her left leg while her spine and sacrum heal. This means that overall she will not be able to work for at least three-four months.

Because of the nature of her work she has had no income since the day of the accident and will not have any until she returns to work. As we're sure you're aware, Jessica's work is very physical--she milks cows, does other ranch work, and housecleaning in multi-story homes. While she is recovering, she cannot work at all and once she returns to work it will be a gradual process as she will start slowly to rebuild her strength and regain her lifestyle and income. She is doing her best to manage the bills that are showing up, and fortunately her insurance will cover most of the medical costs. But with the loss of at least three months income and her truck, she is asking for our support.

We want you to know how much our family appreciates your loving, light, prayers, and good wishes for Jessica Poe, for her son James Poe, her sister Nancy Clingan, and of course us, her parents. We all adore her. She’s our baby/mom/sister and it’s been pretty hard to watch her go through the level of suffering we witnessed over the past two months.

And now we are reaching out to our loved ones to see if you want to be part of assisting Jessica in managing this period of recovery and rehabilitation with a financial donation. This is not easy to ask for--and not something any of us have ever done before--but we are in a position we never imaged ourselves in, and honestly, we need our village.

All donations will come to us, her parents, to pay her bills and support her during this time of recovery while she is living with us. Beyond this period of time she will also have to deal with high medical bills for the percentage that her insurance doesn't cover and also replacing her truck. So we have set up this request for support from our community to help cover the lost income. This is only a start for her, but it is an important one that will remove that as one stress so she can continue to focus entirely on her healing and on returning to a healthy and active life.

Our family is grateful to have our loving communities and we want to emphasize that any amount you can share in support of Jessica will be celebrated by us with deep gratitude. Thank you so much for your loving and support.

In loving and gratitude for the miracles,
Joanie and Frankie and Jessica and family

Now, if you want to know about the miracles, here is the story of Jessica's experience:

On January 12, Jessica was in a multiple rollover accident on Williamson Valley Road on her way home from a late night with a friend. Jessica was helicoptered to a trauma unit in Phoenix, where she spent close to a week in intensive care. Over the first three days they did multiple surgeries to stop internal bleeding and repair broken bones. She was moved to a step-down unit at the hospital to prepare to go into acute rehab. However, on the day she was being discharged from the hospital, her spleen ruptured, which required an emergency surgery and put her back in the ICU.

The miracles. First, her truck was thrown into the air and rolled down an embankment and she was alone in the freezing early morning for hours before she was able to find her phone in her truck and call 911. But she did find it! Then, when her son and I got the calls to come, all we knew was that her back was broken. Her son got to the accident site before she was taken away, but we both drove to Phoenix separately not knowing what to expect. Over the course of the first day or two we learned that she had broken many bones in her body, including two places that were shattered in her right femur, 8 ribs were broken in 16 places, every single vertebrae has a fracture, and there were severe fractures in her sacrum and two of her vertebrae. But with all of that breaking of bones, the only internal soft-tissue injuries were taken care of in the first surgery where two organs were repaired (her liver and kidney) and then discovered later when the spleen ruptured.

All other organs, her spinal cord, her head, and her skin (no cuts!) were protected and taken care of! That’s our strong girl who has always been very protected by the Light.

Once all of the surgeries (five total) were completed, and the rehab process began, she moved on to complete two weeks in the acute rehab hospital. Now she is staying with us until the day when she can put weight on both of her legs again, which should be in about three or four weeks. (They required zero weight on her left leg for ten weeks while her sacrum and spine heal.)

There are of course unknowns, but right now it is simply a process of continued healing and rehabilitating for Jessica. The doctors are still very closely watching a minor infection to make sure it doesn’t spread, which would require a sixth surgery. One she is able to put weight on her leg and start moving, we will learn a lot more about how her body healed and what level of movement she will be capable of.

So please continue to keep Jessica in your prayers and send light for the highest good to all of the P’Cardagan family as we continue to move along through this journey with Jessica as her body continues to heal and she continues to heal on all levels.

We are grateful for continued physical level healing for Jessica, for continued grace-filled healing of family relationships, for continued loving and joy, learning and expansion, and grace and ease on all levels for the highest good.

We all deeply appreciate your light, prayers, loving kindness, and support. The outpouring of love and support has been a true blessing. In the same way that Jessica knows how beautifully supported and loved she is by our family, our family knows how loved and supported we are by all of you.

Love and blessings to you and your loved ones. Keep them close. Keep your gratitude for them closer!

Love, the Momma and Pops
