Jessica Noelle's Memorial

Yesterday, a cop showed up at my door to inform me that my sister Jessica Noelle was found dead. She had been struggling for a few years with mental health issues, and the help she was getting from the VA was not working. To be honest, I think she was misdiagnosed. She was diagnosed as Bipolar but I think she was actually dealing with Borderline Personality Disorder. She pushed away and burned bridges with family, roommates and friends. Just when she was starting to reach out to family, without warning she ended her struggle. Our family is devastated. Being so young she did not have a life insurance policy, or any funeral preparations made. Given the unexpected nature of her death we are not prepared for this financial burden. Her parents recently moved to a remote location in Alaska, which is very expensive to fly in and out of. There may be clean up costs involved as well. We appreciate any and all help. Our hearts hurt so much.
We found out from the detective that she was crashing at a friends house for about a week. She has made comments about being very depressed, and having suicidal thoughts. We found out that his roommate was concerned about her. She acted like everything was normal, and she was laughing and joking, but occasionally made comments that concerned them. Instead of reaching out for help, or having her call a suicide crisis line, they had someone monitoring her all the time. At some point she locked herself in her room and they did not know it until it was too late. If you ever face a situation like that, reach out. Don't insert yourself in the middle. DO NOT take it upon yourself to insert yourself into the situation, please let trained authorities handle it.
Call the Suicide Prevention line. Put them on speaker phone and be around the person in need. Even if they try to convince you they don't need it.
If the situation is really bad, Call 911 (EMS/police) they can put them on a 24 hour observation in a psych unit. I believe my sister needed her medications adjusted and that could have helped her for a while.
They’ll need critical information from you: address of where the individual is, vehicle type and color (license plate number is helpful if you have it), and/or their last known location
Contact the person’s family if you have this information
I only ask this so that if they do end up taking their life, as my sister did. You will know you did everything you could do help. We all feel so guilty for not doing more. I especially hurt for the people who were with her the day she took her life. They tried what they knew in their power and knowledge to do.
