Jessica Klugman

Hi, my name is Roshell Quarker, daughter of Jessica Klugman. On May 5th, 2022, our family was saddened by the news of my mother's stroke. Her left carotid artery was occluded entirely by a rather large blood clot. Ever since this event, she has struggled with receiving clear answers on what caused her stroke.

Multiple specialists have seen my mom: hematology, cardiology, neurology, and vascular neurology, and it remains a mystery why she had a stroke at 43. There were no signs of atherosclerosis, no plaque, and no afib after wearing a 30-day holster to monitor her heart activity. Her hematology labs came back normal. She had an MRI, echo, MRA, ultrasound carotid, CTA of the head/neck, and numerous other studies. She is currently on multiple medications for anti-platelet therapy, including Plavix and Lipitor. Still, without answers, this has become an everyday stressor in her life.

Where we come today, my mother's cardiologist is referring her to the Cleveland Clinic Cardiovascular Department for a second opinion. This is one of the leading hospital systems for cardiology and heart surgery. However, her current insurance does not cover the Cleveland Clinic--- and the consultation to review all her records starts at $2,000 for the first out-of-pocket visit.

With the growing medical expenses, it is becoming difficult for my mother to keep up with affording payments for care.
