Our sister, Jessie, passed away tragically and unexpectedly Friday, August 18, 2023 in Lawton, OK.

Jessie was born on January 3, 1987 in Iowa City IA, the daughter of Jeffrey and Pamela (Lynk) Metz. She attended school in Iowa City later moving to Michigan and recently to Oklahoma. She married Brandon Newman July 9, 2016.

Jessie was a kind, generous person whose huge, infectious smile lit up any room she was in. She was always thinking of others and often put the needs of others before her own. Animal welfare was her passion. Her love of animals could not be surpassed. Her dogs Mia, Izzy, Livvy, and her cat Ross were her pride and joy and were lucky to experience her outpouring of love and comfort. She loved the outdoors and was an avid geocacher, garnering millions of views on social media regarding her searches. She also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and a good true crime mystery.

Jessie was an inspiration to many and touched many hearts. Her wide circle of family and friends loved her deeply. Her memory will live on in all of us.

Services will be held at Lensing Funeral Home in Iowa City.
