Support Jessica and Her Family Through Treatment

Donation protected

You might be familiar with Jessica from her teaching career, adoration of all critters, her intense love of her people, or perhaps her breast cancer journey from 9 years ago. Jessica was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016 and after undergoing chemotherapy and a bilateral mastectomy, came out on top. During that time, her biggest concern was making sure that in the future, she would be able to have a child. Anyone who has had the privilege to know her, knows that it was that dream of a child that pushed her through many of her hardest moments.

On February 6 this year, Jessica’s dream came true, and she, her fiancé Ryan, and stepson Foster welcomed beautiful baby Finlay into the world. Finlay’s entrance was so long awaited and prayed for and has been the highlight of their lives the last few weeks.

Jessica’s pregnancy was a difficult one that came with significant pain early on, and this unfortunately did not dissipate after her delivery. A few days after Finlay’s birth, Jessica returned to the hospital with consistent and severe pain, and after some scans and exams, their world has been turned upside down. Cancer has returned to Jessica’s body, in her lungs, spine, rib, hip, and pelvis. This caused a compression fracture in her upper spine, and a pathological fracture in her rib. The cancer originated in her breast, and metastasized quickly into her bones; this means the cancer is now at stage 4.

While fully prepared and excited to start the adventure of new motherhood, this diagnoses has come fast and wild; Jessica and her family need support for their travel to and from the city for treatments, as well as alterations to their home in anticipation of her return and ensuring she lives her mothering life comfortably for as long as possible. Some changes for home will include things like putting in a ramp, a hospital bed, and renovating the bathroom for accessibility.

Jessica and her family are filled with joy and gratitude at the addition to their family, as well as any support that we can offer them throughout this experience.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
Love, gratitude, and peace.
