Jessica Blanco’s recovery

Donation protected

My name is Amy Blanco, I wanted to take some time out to share what’s happening with my sister-in-law, Jessica Blanco.
on June 22, 2020, Jessica woke up and was unable to move her body. In a panic, and ambulance was called to transport her to the emergency room. They discovered she had suffered damage to her C4 and C5 vertebrae which has left her in total paralysis.

Jessica had my beautiful niece on October 17, 2018, during which she received an epidural.

An infection developed around the injection site and slowly she began to experience more intense back pain as time when on. She tried to seek medical help and was told to not worry because every test that was done on her revealed nothing. This led to the infection traveling upthe cervical spine to her C4 and C5 vertebrae, which has caused permanent damage and has caused her to be completely paralyzed to this day.
Jessica was referred to the Shepherd Spinal Rehabilitation Center in Atlanta, Georgia. During her initial entry, the doctors discovered whatlooked like a bruise about the size of a small pear. But it turned out to be a very deep bed soreat the base of her spine, which needed immediate surgery. This is what she was dealing with after it had been cleaned out and it revealed an even larger wound.
Because she’s been paralyzed from the neck down and wasn’t being properly turned , a bed sore had formed at the base of her spine, in the previous hospital.  Because of the extent of her injury, she is not currently able to have the surgery done that she needs for her to completely heal.

my brothers health insurance has informed him that they will not pay all of the costs of her care at the hospital, nor will the cover the costs for their home to be renovated so she can even come home to her family. Let alone will she be able to be moved around the house in her wheel chair. They also won’t cover any of the ramps it will take to even allow her to be brought inside in a wheelchair.

This happening to her has affected her
way of life with her kids and husband. And we are asking for any help or resources to help cover what the health insurance can’t, so that wecan bring Jessica home to her family and to help her recover properly outside of the hospital.
Our family greatly appreciate everyone for listening to our family emergency. And we cannot begin to thank everyone for the kindness and generosity in helping our family. And even if you can’t give anything, please share her story in every way you can.
