Jessica Bateman’s fundraiser for World Cup Qualifiers
Donation protected
My name is Jessica Bateman and I have recently been selected to compete with the Canada Ravens Squad in Jacksonville FL early in November. This is a big deal and obviously so very cool!
Over my years of rugby I have worked hard to develop my skill set, and I have found a lot of joy in the challenge that presents itself in higher level competitions. It has taught me the value of hard work, the importance of commitment to both myself and those around me, and the positive payoff to the investment of time into things that matter. It is also through rugby that I have learned that when an opportunity presents itself you should go forward into it as hard and fast as you can, ask questions later. With this in mind, being presented with the opportunity to represent Canada as a rugby league athlete was certainly not on my bingo card of what I thought possible, but it is an opportunity that I am honoured to have open to me. I look forward to taking in the experience, learning, and bringing back all I can to my club, my school, and my friends back home.
*A caveat of saying yes to opportunities is that they can be costly. While the Ravens are sponsored and work to subsidize the costs of a world cup qualifier, there is still a considerable amount that falls to the athletes. If you have read this far and can spare any amount to help me cover some of the additional costs related to travel, accommodations, ect. I would be very grateful!
thanks for taking the time, I appreciate your support!
