Jessica and Miles: Road to Recovery
Donation protected
At San Pasqual Valley Ranch (SPVR), we get to see the amazing benefits that horses have on lives - children, adults, seniors. Unfortunately, horse interactions also come with risk. Last week one of our ranch family members experienced an accident dismounting from her beloved horse that resulted in a serious head injury. Jessica Eddy Lichtenberg boards two horses at SPVR and we saw her daily, sometimes multiple times, as she came and fed, rode and loved on her two horses, Buck and Bandit. She is a strong, caring and humble person who supports our kids' rodeo team by traveling to Las Vegas to watch them compete at a big barrel race there every year. She rides all over the ranch, smiling at everyone she sees, sometimes by herself, and sometimes with her hubby, Miles. As her mom said, the ranch is her happy place. Luckily Miles was at the ranch the day of the accident and quickly put his military medic experience to use stabilizing Jessica and providing directions to our son, Austin, who saw the accident and ran to the scene, calling 911 along the way. The SPVR crew supported Miles until the ambulance arrived. Jessica had a brain bleed/hematoma and went into surgery immediately. The family is so thankful she survived surgery and is now in an induced coma with a long road ahead to recovery and what that looks like for Jessica and Miles. The expenses are enormous, even with insurance, and the future is very uncertain. SPVR would like to ask the larger horse world for financial help for Jessica and Miles as they navigate the journey to recovery. All funds will go directly to Miles to manage as needed to meet Jessica's needs and ongoing life expenses as he supports and cares for her. Your generosity and support during this time of stress, fear and uncertainty is appreciated more than you can know. Thank you for your consideration and heart.
